Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative who will transfer you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can either rest after your journey or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, a bustling hub of shops, restaurants, and cultural sites.
Today, we begin our journey to Phaplu, the starting point of our trek to Dudh Kunda. You have the option to take a short flight from Kathmandu to Phaplu, which offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest if weather permits. Alternatively, you can opt for a scenic drive that takes approximately 10 hours, covering around 366 km through picturesque landscapes and rural villages.
Upon arrival in Phaplu, you'll check into your lodge and have the rest of the day to relax and acclimatize to the altitude. Phaplu is a charming town with a rich cultural heritage and provides a glimpse into the traditional Sherpa way of life.
After breakfast in Phaplu, we begin our trek towards Taksindo. The trail ascends gradually through lush forests and small settlements, offering occasional views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Ratnange Danda, a ridge along the way, provides a perfect spot for a break where you can enjoy panoramic views of the rolling hills and distant snow-capped peaks.
Continuing on, we reach Taksindo, where we will spend the night. Taksindo is a tranquil village surrounded by terraced fields and inhabited by friendly locals. Here, you can immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoy the hospitality of the Sherpa community.
Today's trek takes us further uphill as we ascend towards Saharsa Beni. The trail winds through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests, offering stunning views of the Dudh Kunda region. As we gain altitude, the landscapes change dramatically, and you may notice a shift in vegetation and terrain.
Upon reaching Saharsa Beni, a picturesque spot nestled amidst towering peaks, we settle into our lodge and rest for the night. This high-altitude camp provides a serene setting surrounded by natural beauty, ideal for acclimatization before reaching Dudh Kunda.
Today is the highlight of our trek as we trek to Dudh Kunda, also known as Milky Lake. The trail ascends steeply towards Dudh Kunda, passing through rocky terrain and high-altitude pastures. As we approach the sacred lake, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic, with panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks.
Dudh Kunda is a significant pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The pristine lake reflects the surrounding mountains, creating a surreal and spiritual atmosphere. After spending some time exploring the area and soaking in the tranquility, we trek back to Saharsa Beni for our overnight stay.
Today, we take a short flight back to Kathmandu, providing a final opportunity to enjoy aerial views of the Himalayas before returning to the bustling capital city. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll be transferred to your hotel where you can relax or explore more of the city's cultural attractions and vibrant markets.
