Important Note

Notes

  • Proper mental and physical preparation is essential for trekking and peak climbing in the Everest region. Trekkers and climbers should be prepared for high altitude, changing weather conditions, and basic mountain facilities.
  • Lukla flights are highly weather-dependent, and delays or cancellations can occasionally occur due to mountain weather conditions.

Alternative Transportation Option

In case of flight cancellation, an alternative overland route is available:

  • Kathmandu to Surke Jeep Drive
  • Approximate distance: 380 km
  • Duration: around 2 days drive
  • Please note that approximately 30% of the road is in rough off-road condition

This option is commonly used during bad weather or peak trekking seasons when flights are disrupted.

Optional Helicopter Upgrade

Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu Helicopter Service

For greater comfort, flexibility, and to avoid possible flight delays, direct helicopter flights between Kathmandu and Lukla are available.

  • Additional cost: USD 600 per person (one way)

Helicopter flights are faster, more comfortable, and operate more reliably during unstable weather conditions compared to regular domestic flights.

Travel Recommendation

We strongly recommend keeping a few extra buffer days in your travel itinerary before international flights, especially during the busy spring and autumn trekking seasons, as weather-related delays in the Everest region are common.

Solo Everest Three Passes Trek

After contacting several highly rated tour companies in Nepal, I chose Higher Paths Treks & Expeditions for my solo Everest Three Passes Trek and I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Karma was exceptionally patient and responsive from the very beginning, answering all my questions and working with me to create a customized itinerary that fit my needs perfectly. He provided a detailed plan and packing list, ensuring I felt prepared and confident before setting out. Throughout the entire process, Karma remained a reliable point of contact, making the logistics seamless from start to finish. My guide, Jungbu Sherpa, was outstanding-he quickly understood my trekking pace and made sure I was comfortable, especially while crossing the three challenging high passes, each over 5,000 meters. Thanks to his experience and support, I was able to complete everything we had planned, all while enjoying the stunning landscapes and the warmth of the local people. This trek was both a physical and mental challenge, but with the guidance and organization from Higher Paths, it became an unforgettable adventure filled with fun and lasting memories. I look forward to returning to Nepal for another trek, and I know without hesitation that I’ll choose Higher Paths Treks & Expeditions again.
