The team handled all logistics, permits, accommodations, and transportation professionally, making the challenging journey smooth and comfortable. Our guides were supportive, experienced, and always attentive to our needs during the high-altitude trip. The Kailash Mansarovar via Kerung Overland Tour is one of the most popular spiritual and adventure journeys in Tibet, combining religious significance, breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, and cultural exploration. Organized by Higher Path Treks & Expeditions, this overland route starts from Kathmandu and enters Tibet through the Kerung border. The tour includes visits to sacred sites like Pashupatinath Temple, Budhanilkantha, Lake Mansarovar, and Mount Kailash. Pilgrims and travelers experience high-altitude Tibetan plateaus, ancient monasteries, and the famous Kailash Kora trek, making it a life-changing spiritual and cultural expedition.
The Kailash Mansarovar tour is considered moderately challenging because of the high altitude and trekking involved during the Kailash Kora. Travelers will reach elevations above 5,600 meters during the Dolma La Pass crossing. However, the itinerary designed by Higher Path Treks & Expeditions includes acclimatization days in Saga to help travelers adapt gradually. Basic physical fitness, regular walking habits, and mental preparation are highly recommended. Even though prior trekking experience is not mandatory, travelers should be prepared for long drives, cold weather, and limited facilities in remote Tibetan regions.
Acclimatization is one of the most important aspects of the Kailash Mansarovar journey because travelers ascend rapidly into high-altitude regions of Tibet. Symptoms of altitude sickness may include headache, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, and shortness of breath. The dedicated acclimatization day at Saga included by Higher Path Treks & Expeditions helps travelers adjust safely before proceeding to higher elevations like Mansarovar and Darchen. Drinking plenty of water, walking slowly, avoiding alcohol, and following the guide’s instructions are essential for maintaining good health during the pilgrimage.
No, completing the Kailash Kora trek is not compulsory. Some pilgrims prefer to stay at Darchen or Lake Mansarovar instead of doing the full trek around Mount Kailash. However, many Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon followers believe the Kora holds immense spiritual significance and brings purification and blessings. The trek usually takes three days and passes through Dirapuk and Zhuthulpuk. Higher Path Treks & Expeditions provides experienced guides and support staff to help travelers complete the trek safely according to their pace and physical condition.
Lake Mansarovar is one of the holiest lakes in the world and holds immense spiritual importance in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon traditions. Pilgrims believe that bathing in the sacred lake cleanses sins and purifies the soul. Surrounded by stunning Himalayan landscapes and views of Mount Kailash, the lake offers a deeply peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. During the tour organized by Higher Path Treks & Expeditions, travelers have the opportunity to perform puja, meditation, and spiritual rituals by the lakeside before continuing toward Darchen and the Kailash Kora.
Higher Path Treks & Expeditions is known for organizing professionally managed Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimages with experienced guides, reliable logistics, and personalized service. The company focuses on traveler safety, proper acclimatization, comfortable transportation, and smooth permit arrangements throughout the journey. Their well-planned itinerary includes spiritual sightseeing in Kathmandu, border assistance, and dedicated support during the Kailash Kora trek. With strong local expertise and a commitment to customer satisfaction, Higher Path Treks & Expeditions provides pilgrims with a safe, meaningful, and memorable Himalayan pilgrimage experience.
Travelers need a valid passport with at least six months’ validity, recent passport-sized photographs, and necessary travel documentation for Tibet and China. The visa process is generally handled in Kathmandu after arrival. Higher Path Treks & Expeditions assists clients with the Chinese Group Visa and Tibet Travel Permit arrangements. Since visa procedures can occasionally change, travelers are advised to provide accurate documents on time and avoid booking international flights too close to departure dates. It is also recommended to carry photocopies of important documents throughout the journey.
Accommodation during the tour ranges from comfortable hotels in Kathmandu to basic guesthouses and lodges in Tibet. In cities like Saga and Darchen, rooms are generally simple but clean, while accommodation during the Kailash Kora may be more basic due to the remote mountain environment. Higher Path Treks & Expeditions ensures the best available accommodations throughout the route. Meals typically include Tibetan, Chinese, Nepali, and simple vegetarian dishes. Pilgrims are encouraged to carry personal snacks, energy bars, and essential medicines for added comfort during the trip.
The ideal season for the Kailash Mansarovar overland tour is from May to September when weather conditions are relatively stable and roads are accessible. During these months, travelers can enjoy clearer mountain views, comfortable daytime temperatures, and better trekking conditions. Monsoon rains may affect roads on the Nepal side, but Tibetan regions remain comparatively dry. Higher Path Treks & Expeditions carefully plans departures according to weather patterns and border regulations to ensure a smoother and safer travel experience for pilgrims and adventure seekers alike.
Medical facilities in Tibet are limited, especially in remote regions near Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. Basic medical centers may be available in towns like Saga, but advanced healthcare services are not easily accessible. Therefore, travelers are strongly advised to carry personal medications, altitude sickness medicine, and first-aid supplies. Higher Path Treks & Expeditions prioritizes traveler safety by arranging experienced guides familiar with high-altitude conditions. Oxygen cylinders and emergency support are usually available during the trip, but prevention and proper acclimatization remain the best safety measures.
