Everest Base Camp Trekking Permits
For this trek trekkers need two permits for the Everest Base Camp trek: The Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality (local govenrment) permit. These permits are obtainable through registered trekking agencies in Kathmandu or in Lukla and Monjo.
Transportation
The trek typically begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small airstrip in the Khumbu region. From Lukla, the trek follows well-established trails through villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Dingboche, and Gorak Shep, finally reaching Everest Base Camp.
Communication
Communication facilities along the trail have improved significantly over the years. For mobile Ncell and NTC (Nepal Telecom) service coverage in many places, however the signal may be weak and unavailable at higher elevation and in remote section in the trail. Wi-Fi is available at most tea houses/lodges along the route. However trekkers should pay or buy Wi-Fi card to use the service.

The day can be spent exploring the vibrant streets of Thamel, a hub of cultural energy, local shops, and cafes. In the evening, the trekking team will host a pre-trekking briefing, introducing you to your experienced guide and fellow trekkers, discussing safety protocols, the trek itinerary, and any special considerations for your upcoming adventure.
Your Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return begins with an early morning helicopter ride from Kathmandu to Lukla, offering breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan range, including the snow-capped peaks of the Everest region. After landing at the famous and adventurous (Tenjing Hillary) airport Lukla, you will meet your trekking team and start your gentle trek to Phakding, a small village nestled along the Dudh Koshi River. The trail gradually ascends through charming villages like Jorsale, where you stop for lunch. The path then steeply rises through forests of pine and rhododendron, offering stunning vistas of surrounding peaks. On a clear day, you may catch your first glimps of the Mount Everest. By late afternoon, you arrive in Namche Bazaar, a bustling market town and cultural hub of the Sherpa people. Spend the evening acclimatizing, exploring local shops, and enjoying the town’s vibrant atmosphere.
Trekking Distance: 12 Km Trekking Duration: 6-7 Hours
After breakfast in Namche Bazaar, today you hike to the Everest View Point, which offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhoste, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Khangkaru and surrounding peaks. Afterward, you will visit Sherpa culture museum then return back to Teahouse. After lunch you explore Namche Bazaar and overnight stay there in same teahouse. This day helps with acclimatization and allows you to soak in the surrounding Himalayan scenery while learning about Sherpa traditions.
Hiking Duration: 30min-1 Hour
Today, the trek takes you from Namche Bazaar towards Khumjung via Hotel Everest View, passing through beautiful pine forest and open ridges that reveal mesmerizing views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and surrounding Himalayan peaks.
After breakast the trek begins with uphill towards Syangboche airport, there you visit the Sagarmatha Next building (a waste management center of Khumbu region) with scenic mountain views, you reach Khumjung for lunch and after lunch explore its monastery, home to the legendary Yeti Skull, Hillary school and Khumjung village. Overnight stay at Khumjung, where you get time to rest, enjoy a warm meal, and reflect on the incredible landscapes and Sherpa heritage you experienced throughout the day.
Trekking Distance: 5 Km Trekking Duration: 3-4 Hours
Today’s trek takes you deeper in to the Khumbu Valley, filled with scenic beauty as you traverse high-altitude landscapes dotted with Mani walls and fluttering prayer flags. You will arrive in Pangboche, one of the highest permanent Sherpa settlement in the Khumbu region, known for its peaceful ambiance and rich cultural heritage.
The highlight of the day is a visit to Tengboche Monastery, the biggest and most significant Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu Valley. Here you can explore the monastery experience the spiritual atmosphere and enjoy with the panoramic breathtaking views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam Thamserku and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The trail continues through smaller villages, giving you the opportunity to experience traditional Sherpa life firsthand before settling into your lodge for a relaxing evening.

Leaving Pangboche, the trail ascends gradually towards Dingboche, another important acclimatization stop on the Everest Base Camp trek. Dingboche is a summer grazing settlement surrounded by stone walls to protect crops from the cold winds. Alternatively, you can explore Dingboche village, interact with local Sherpa people, and learn about their traditional lifestyle and cultural practices.

Today, you leave Dingboche and begin trekking toward Lobuche, gradually ascending through the stunning landscapes of the Khumbu region. The trail passes through rocky terrains and glacial moraines, offering breathtaking views of the Pheriche Valley, Pokalde Peak, and reach Thukla (Dughla). As you continue along the Everest Base Camp route, you will notice the vegetation becoming to thinner as the altitude increases.

You will trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, the last permanent settlement before Everest Base Camp, navigating rocky moraines and glacial debris. The journey offers panoramic views of towering peaks such as the Everest, Nuptse, Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Pumori. After reaching Gorak Shep, you will leave your belongings at the lodge and continue toward Everest Base Camp. The trail traverses the Khumbu Glacier, giving close-up views of the famous Khumbu Icefall and surrounding Himalayan giants. After spending time at Everest Base Camp, taking photographs and absorbing the awe-inspiring scenery, you will return to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay, reflecting on this monumental achievement.

Today, you retrace your steps from Pheriche back toward Namche Bazaar, descending through forests of rhododendron and juniper. The trail continues to offer striking views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, making this descent a reflective and scenic journey. Along the way, you will pass Sherpa villages, allowing opportunities to interact with locals and appreciate the cultural richness of the region. Your trek continues with a gradual descent from Namche Bazaar through Monjo and Phakding toward Lukla.
