Overview of Lobuje Island Peak Climbing
Lobuje Peak (6,119m/20,076ft), also spell as Lobuche lies in the popular Everest region of Nepal. Lobuje peak climbing is a popular and attractive summit, which offers various routes for climbing. Lobuche has two summits, east and west, heights of 6,119m and 6,145m respectively. A continuous ridge connects them but there is still a sharp gap and a considerable distance between these two summits. The normal route for climbing Lobuche is through South Ridge. The East Peak is recognized as a trekking peak, whereas the West is identified as an Expedition Peak. The East face rises over the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to a spectacular skyline, forming the south ridge. Lobuche Peak climbing is physically very demanding and technically straightforward on the snow slopes.
The first summit of Lobuche East Peak was by Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyaljen Sherpa on 25th April 1984. The peak offers various existing routes and there is also a possibility of discovering new ones. The dark triangle of its rocky east face rises from the moraines of Khumbu Glaciers to a pleasant skyline and forms the south face. Lobuche East is reached by descending a marked notch and climbing steep snowy slopes to the top from the summit there are some amazing mountain views including Mt. Everest, Khumbu Glacier, Mt. Lhotse, Nuptse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Thamserku.
Lobuje East climb is also possible to combine with the regular Everest Base Camp trek itinerary for more enthusiast trekkers and climbers without attempting Chola pass. Our experienced guides and Sherpas will help you with the equipments, rope work, ice climbing skills and safety techniques. Lobuche, being an attractive mountain offers various existing routes and also a potential for new ones.
