Trip Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by a representative from your trekking agency. After transferring to your hotel in Thamel, a vibrant area filled with shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks, you’ll have some time to rest and recover from your journey. In the late afternoon or evening, you may attend a pre-trek briefing with your guide. This meeting will cover the details of the trek and climbing expedition, and you’ll have the chance to ask any questions about the upcoming adventure. Enjoy a traditional Nepali dinner at a local restaurant and prepare for the exciting days ahead.
Day 2 : Preparation for Climbing Gear in Kathmandu
Today is dedicated to preparation for the climbing expedition. You’ll meet your trek leader and team members in the morning for a briefing on the Larkya Peak climb. You will also have the chance to rent or purchase any necessary climbing gear you may not have already arranged. The afternoon is free for any last-minute shopping or sightseeing. The evening will include a final team meeting to discuss the climb, your schedule, and safety protocols.
Day 3 : Drive to Dharapani by Private Jeep – Overnight at Lodge (1963m)
After an early breakfast, you’ll depart Kathmandu for a scenic drive to Dharapani. The drive takes you along the Prithvi Highway and then continues on a more rugged road toward the Annapurna region. It’s a full day’s journey, so enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains and local villages along the way. Upon arrival in Dharapani, you’ll check into your lodge for an overnight stay, preparing for the trek ahead.
Day 4 : Drive to Tilje and Trek to Guwa (2520m)
After a 35-minute drive to Tilje, we begin the trekking portion of the trip. The trek to Guwa is a relatively easy 2-3 hour walk, allowing us to acclimatize to the increasing altitude. As you pass through traditional Gurung villages, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Guwa is a peaceful village, and you'll spend the night at a comfortable lodge here, surrounded by nature.
Day 5 : Trek to Yak Kharka (3020m)
Today’s trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, and we ascend steadily to Yak Kharka. The trail winds through forests and pastures, offering panoramic views of the mountains. Yak Kharka is a small settlement situated at a higher altitude, and you'll rest here for the night. The lodge offers a cozy atmosphere to help you acclimatize and rest for the next day’s journey.
Day 6 : Trek to Bimthang (3590m)
The trek to Bimthang today is a bit more strenuous, taking about 4-5 hours to complete. Along the way, you’ll encounter alpine meadows, juniper forests, and small streams. The scenery is stunning, with views of snow-capped peaks like Manaslu, Annapurna II, and others. Once you arrive at Bimthang, a beautiful village located in a lush valley, you’ll stay at a local lodge for the night.
Day 7 : Hiking to Ponkar Lake for Acclimatization (3995m)
This day is set aside for acclimatization. We’ll hike to Ponkar Lake, which sits at an elevation of 3995m, to allow your body to adjust to the higher altitude. The hike takes about 3-4 hours, and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding mountain range. After the hike, we return to Bimthang for an overnight stay. This rest and acclimatization day is crucial for a successful summit.
Day 8 : Trek to Larkya Peak Phedi (4100m)
Today, we trek to Larkya Peak Phedi, which will take about 4-5 hours. The terrain is more rugged as we approach the base of Larkya Peak, and you’ll experience a real sense of adventure as you move closer to the high-altitude environment. At an elevation of 4100 meters, Larkya Peak Phedi offers stunning views of the peaks that will soon be within your reach. You’ll spend the night in a lodge or tent, depending on availability.
Day 9 : Rest Day at Phedi
A crucial rest day at Larkya Peak Phedi will help your body adapt to the altitude before moving higher. This day is important to avoid altitude sickness, allowing you to hydrate, eat well, and rest. Your climbing guides will also conduct a briefing to ensure that you are fully prepared for the coming days.
Day 10 : Trek to Larkya Peak Base Camp (4920m)
The trek from Phedi to Base Camp takes about 3-4 hours. As you ascend, you’ll notice the air getting thinner, and the terrain becomes more alpine. Once at Base Camp, situated at 4920 meters, you’ll set up camp in a tent. The views from Base Camp are awe-inspiring, with the towering peaks of Larkya Peak and other surrounding mountains offering an incredible backdrop.
Day 11 : Hike to High Camp for Acclimatization
To aid in acclimatization, today you’ll hike up to the high camp at a higher elevation, then return to Base Camp for the night. The hike will take a few hours, and the views at the high camp are breathtaking, giving you a preview of the challenges ahead. Afterward, return to Base Camp to rest for the night.
Day 12 : Rest Day at Base Camp
Today is another rest day at Base Camp to ensure your body is fully prepared for the summit push. You’ll have the opportunity to rest, hydrate, and enjoy the surroundings. The guides will conduct safety briefings, and everyone will review the climbing plans. This is a good time to relax and mentally prepare for the challenge ahead.
Day 13 : Trek to High Camp (5370m)
Today, you’ll make your way to High Camp, located at an altitude of 5370 meters. The trek takes around 4-5 hours and offers stunning views of the mountains. The terrain is rugged and challenging, and the air will be thin, but you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Larkya Peak and other surrounding peaks. You will spend the night in tents at High Camp, where you will have to prepare for the summit climb.
Day 14 : Summit Larkya Peak (6249m) and Return to Base Camp
The day has arrived for the final summit push! You’ll begin your climb early in the morning, aiming to reach the summit of Larkya Peak (6249 meters). The climb is demanding but incredibly rewarding, with panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After reaching the summit and celebrating, you’ll descend back to Base Camp for the night. Day 17 : Trek to Tilje and Drive to Beshishar
We continue the descent today, trekking back to Tilje and then driving to Beshishar. The drive back to Beshishar will be a long one, but you’ll be rewarded with stunning views and a chance to relax after the challenging climb. You’ll spend the night in Beshishar at a local hotel or lodge.
Day 18 : Drive Back to Kathmandu
After breakfast, you’ll take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, a journey of around 6-7 hours. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll check into your hotel and have the evening free to relax or explore. You’ll have time to rest and recover from the trekking and climbing adventure.
